Marilyn W Lathrop
grew up dreaming about the stars on a farm northwest of Clovis, New
Mexico, in a day when the night sky was truly dark. It was her birthday
when the first man walked on the moon, July 20, 1969. Cannon Air Force
base near her home teemed with jets and she dreamed of space travel.
Marilyn still loves the noise of sonic booms and misses the days when they
were the sound of freedom instead of treated as an annoyance. Marilyn has
seen a few UFO’s (unexplained flying objects). Are aliens really out there?
She’s not sure.
Now living in rural southeastern New Mexico, the old days of dark nights
are gone, but Marilyn still dreams of stars.
Marilyn is an artist who has transferred her love of creating pictures to
fiction. She has studied writing and written fiction since childhood. While at
University of New Mexico, she studied poetry writing with Leslie Marmon
Silko and fiction writing with Carol Berge, joining Berge’s writing group for
a time. She was also a member of the now defunct “Lit Dogs” poetry
performance group. And she’s a founding member of “Writing Rogues” a
fiction writer’s group.
Look for the 3rd in the New Mexico Romance trilogy set in the Over the
Edge universe coming late 2019. Watch for a reboot of the main series:
